What is VESy?

  • For women and men alike
  • 70% of patients with stress urinary incontinence avoided the need for surgery
  • Greater than 50% of patients with overactive bladders saw improvement
  • More than 80% reduction in urge incontinence episodes

VESy was discovered by urogynecologist, Dr. Bruce Crawford, who  wanted to eliminate the need for repeated surgeries in his patients. His research proves that incontinence and other pelvic floor problems are not medical but rather a fitness issue.

“Pelvic floor disorders are absolutely epidemic. Stress urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, female sexual dysfunction, pelvic organ prolapse, and fecal incontinence are so commonplace they are often regarded as the inevitable consequences of childbirth and aging. When these conditions are treated they are to often regarded as purely mechanical disorders requiring a surgical solution. Although trained as a surgeon I have come to regard these disorders as principally neuromuscular disorders deserving of a neuromuscular solution.” – Dr. Bruce Crawford, Urogynecologist

VESy was born out of the desire to improve the quality of life of people of people with pelvic floor problems through rehabilitation of their pelvic floor. At Lead, we worked closely with Dr. Crawford to be trained and certified as the first exclusive VESy Centre in Western Canada. Our goal and mission as a company is to improve the overall quality of life for our clients and VESy at Lead very much fits with this mission.

VESy stands for VIDEO – EMG SYNCHRONIZATION – this process and software gathers information about the muscles that make up your pelvic floor: perineal, Transversus abdominis, lower extremity adductors, and gluteals. Unlike a bicep muscle in the arm or a hamstring in the leg, it’s difficult to know if you’re utilizing the muscles in your pelvic floor correctly. But like those muscles they do need to be exercised and strengthened to operate properly. The VESy at Lead program uses the same technology found in sport science facilities to measure specific muscle activity. Sensors are attached to the four main muscle groups in your pelvic floor and we record your movements while doing 10 key exercises.

VESy is perfect for women and men alike; 70% of patients with stress urinary incontinence avoided the need for surgery; greater than 50% in patients with overactive bladders saw improvement; greater than 80% reduction in urge incontinence episodes.  We can help women post-pregnancy or menopausal.
